As we begin a new year, we look back at some of the organisation we have worked with over the course of 2017.
Merkinch Football academy
Location: Inverness
Award: £1,000
This club aims to deliver football activities and to create volunteering opportunities for young people aged from 5 to 25 years of age living in one of the multi-deprived areas of the city.
The MFA helps tackle poor physical health, improves emotional well-being and low levels of confidence. Working with around 120 participants, this is a volunteer-led initiative which provides opportunity for young people to gain experience in the voluntary sector.
First Aid and Nutritional workshops have become a key element of the club’s annual programme. Funding was granted to provide training for additional volunteers to deliver these basic workshops.
